Abstract
Calculations of source terms that drive replacement currents in coaxial and twinaxial cables with gaps are presented. Various levels of emitted charge density from the cable conductors have been considered; these levels are typical of many problems of interest where x-rays irradiate cables. In particular, high radiation levels, at which electric fields in the cable gaps affect photo compton electron trajectories, have been studied. Comparisons of source terms are made between the two cable types. Effects of air pressure on the source terms for a coaxial cable are examined.
