Abstract
The response-based on-line steady state security assessment method of power systems can prevent influences of inaccuracy of models and parameters used in theoretical calculations and numerical simulations. With the aid of a grid model SMES system producing the specially designed disturbance signals, experiments were carried out in a simple power system to demonstrate the feasibility of the method. The results of experiments are then compared with that of calculations and simulations. The study indicates that the response signal of the power system being disturbed contains information of low-frequency oscillation modes and can be used as an index to the degree of steady state security of power systems.
