Abstract
A finite difference model is proposed as an economical means of determining the performance of high voltage bushings under overload conditions. A discussion of the calculation technique employed is rendered. Various refinements presently under consideration are cited. Model accuracy is considered by comparing temperature predictions to measured data obtained from heat runs performed on typical units. A companion paper which considers a proposal for the establishment of industry guidelines for bushing overloading is referenced.
