Abstract
This paper presents a finite-element procedure for the solution of the voltage-driven transient electromagnetic fields in axisymmetric structures involving hysteresis. The approach handles the presence of eddy currents, flowing along circular paths, which significantly influence the diffusion of the magnetic field within the core. Some results performed on an electromagnet-like structure, under different supply conditions, are presented. The role of eddy currents and magnetic hysteresis is finally discussed.
