Abstract
Coaxial cables are commonly used in microwave systems but are difficult to model rigorously in the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, particularly with coarse meshes. Various techniques are investigated and the optimum method identified. In addition, attention is paid to strategies for the computation of the characteristic impedance.
