Abstract
The Unilac injector ion source for multiply charged ions based on the work of Morozov and Pasyuk is described briefly. Beam performance and typical operating parameters are given with respect to recent modifications. Technical limits of the present set-up are shown and a new ion source assembly is presented by which a better multipurpose ion beam application can be achieved. First test stand results of this so called "compact-PIG-source" are discussed.
