Abstract
We have constructed a prototype optical label swapper module by integrating an optically clocked transistor array InP optoelectronic integrated circuit (OEIC) with complimentary metal-oxide-semiconductor electronics. Dual serial-to-parallel and parallel-to-serial conversion (demultiplexer/multiplexer) capability of the OEIC enables a compact low-power low-cost label swapper. With the prototype, we demonstrate label swapping of 10-Gb/s 16-bit asynchronous burst preamble-free optical labels.
