  • Abstract
    The principle of operation of evanescent-mode filters is explained by means of combline theory without considering waves propagating in waveguides beyond cutoff. Excellent agreement with theory is exhibited by components designed on this basis which suggests that evanescent-mode filters are in fact waveguide-coupled versions of combline filters.
