Abstract
A trigger system for a high energy physics experiment is reported that makes use of two levels of Field Programmable Logic Arrays (FPLA) in cascade. It is shown that flexibility comparable to that of Random Access Memory (RAM) based systems can be achieved with little, if any, loss in speed of response, a considerable reduction in complexity and improved reliability.
