High Performance Receiver

This paper discusses a new high performance television tuner/IF recently developed by Texas Instruments and deliered to the FCC in engineering model form for evaluation. The project effectively demonstrated that new device technologies in conjunction with a system that takes advantage of such new technologies can be utilized to greatly improve TV receiver performance over that which is currently realized. The theory of operation, system architecture, new component technology, actual circuitry used, and final performance of the new receiver system will all be presented in this paper.
