Abstract
A 16-stage digital correlator chip for 8-b data and 8-b coefficients has been realized in a 2-μm bipolar technology. The coefficients are programmable and the accumulator word width is 20 b, including overflow detection. The die size is 88 mm/SUP 2/ and power consumption is 6.0 W. The system is suited for video signal processing and shows that bipolar technology is an appropriate technology for high-speed VLSI. A novel circuit redundancy technique, suited for reconfigurable VLSI systems, is verified for this system.
