Abstract
Mobile radio has come of age within the trucking industry and let there be no doubt about it, it´s here to stay. There are a number of reasons for this, but only two which I wish to discuss in detail. And the two reasons are probably the most important factors in the growth of mobile radio within the trucking industry. Motor carriers have discovered that operating efficiency can be increased from the utilization of mobile radio. This is the primary reason for adopting mobile radio to trucking operations. The secondary reason is found in the economic advantages derived from this increased operating efficiency. These advantages accrue ultimately to the shipping public and consumer.
