  • Abstract
    A new shape-based feature vector for automatic extraction of main roads in aerial images is presented. The vector describes main roads by the topology of their edge pixels, and its performance is invariant with respect to translation, rotation, scaling and illumination variations. Experimental results show that the proposed method describes and models main roads adequately.
