Vibration-mode patterns of acoustoelectric oscillators

The major plate resonances of acoustoelectric oscillators have often been observed to be split into a number of components separated by a few tens of kilohertz. An apparatus has been developed which displays the vibration mode pattern for each component of a spectrum of closely separated lines. The patterns observed may be understood if the principal components of the split line are members of the inharmonic series of vibrations allowed for the particular oscillator geometry used.
