Abstract
This paper describes a new method for the 3D computation of a permanent magnet motor excited from a voltage source. The method has advantages that the 3D mesh as well as the circuit is changed automatically according to the movement of the armature. The method is applied to the rotating analysis of the IEEJ model excited from a square pulse voltage source. The results calculated by the 3D analysis are compared with the results by a 2D analysis. The validity of the new method is also confirmed by experiments
