  • Abstract
    Companded encoders of high resolution, such as may be required for p.c.m. transmission of high-quality sound-programme signals, can be realised using the `counting¿ principle. In the reported implementation, a reference waveform of ramps of different slopes are generated by integrating the output from a d.a. convenor.
