Abstract
A discussion of partial discharge (PD) testing of SF6 gas insulated substations (GISs) is based on a consensus among the experts on and associated with WG K4 of the IEEE Substations Committee. Such testing is discussed in the context of type testing, factory routine testing, testing of solid dielectric spacers, and field PD testing. The latter tends to be the most problematic and hence receives the most detailed discussion
