Abstract
The novel geometry of the planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA), similar to the metal case (or cap) of a commercial RF module, is presented for Zigbee application at 2.4 GHz band. This design has been examined by simulations. The fabricated prototype has compact dimensions of 18times18times2 mm with rectangular cap shape. Test results show good broad-side radiation patterns and impedance bandwidth of 87 MHz covering the Zigbee frequency band. By using the proposed PIFA, a compact RF module integrated with antenna can be realised
