Abstract
The paper deals with the application and operational requirements of tactical direction-finding equipment. An outline of the EW scenario in modern warfare is presented, concentrating on the direction-finding and position-fixing aspects. The need for a high order of accuracy is discussed, and it is suggested that this can only be achieved by means of wide aperture systems. The design requirements for tactical equipment are then discussed, together with a description of the Vampire DF system, which is specifically designed for this application, and which now has a proven capability in the field.
