Abstract
The bandwidth of reflection coefficients are evaluated for the conducting strips on a grounded dielectric and magnetic slab for the use as artificially soft and hard surfaces. The closed-form reflection coefficients developed are utilised in parameter study. The hard surface realised by magnetic material slab has significantly wider bandwidth than that realised by dielectric material slab. For a perfectly hard surface, a simple proportionality between the relative bandwidth and the design frequency is found for the first time
