  • Abstract
    A butterfly-packaged, monolithically integrated DFB laser/electroabsorption modulator is used for repeaterless transmission of 10 Gbit/s NRZ over 107 km standard singlemode fibre, with a total dispersion of 1800 ps/nm. The transmission is nondispersion-limited. A single optical fibre amplifier is used, for boosting the power and for simultaneously generating dispersion compensation.
