  • Abstract
    An edge-diffraction formulation is given for an astigmatic electromagnetic wave incident on a screen with a curved surface and a curved edge. The result is used to calculate the near field of a paraboloidal reflector under plane-wave illumination, and this is compared with the physical-optics method. An edge-type term valid along the axial caustic is given.
