Abstract
The object-oriented analysis (OOA) of a problem frequently encountered in control engineering is described: the automated control of a flexible production plant. The advantages of flexible production are explained and the choice of OOA as an approach is outlined. Using a simple example, readily generalisable to a wide range of cases, the steps of the analysis are described and illustrated. An extension of the method allowing the rigorous verification of the analysis results using Petri nets is presented. The advantages of the approach, both technical and economic, are described
