Abstract
The movement of intense rain over a line of rapid-response rain gauges is shown to be related to the wind speed at the 700 mbar level. This relationship is used to deduce model rainfall intensity/distance profiles from intensity/time profiles recorded at a point. The model is applicable to the calculation of attenuation at frequencies above about 30 GHz.
