An improved high-performance TV receiver

This paper discusses a new high-performance television tuner/IF recently developed by RF Monolithics, Inc. and delivered to the FCC in engineering model form for evaluation. The project effectively demonstrated that new device technologies in conjunction with a system that takes advantage of such new technologies can be utilized to improve TV receiver performance greatly over that which is currently realized. The theory of operation, system architecture, new component technology, and final performance of the new receiver system are all presented in this paper.
