  • Abstract
A method is presented for determining the steady state running currents, torques, speeds, power factors and efficiencies of a superconducting synchronous/induction motor. Also, a method is presented for determining the current and magnetic flux densities that a superconductor must be able to withstand to successfully function in a superconducting synchronous/induction motor. The methods are applied to a hypothetical superconducting synchronous/induction motor. The hypothetical motor´s design is a modification of that of an 11.2 kW squirrel cage induction motor. Hypothetically, the inner 5/6th of the induction motor´s rotor conductors were replaced and liquid nitrogen cooling tubes were put next to the superconductor
