  • Abstract
    The stability of a vertical ferrofluid seal submitted to a magnetic field is studied. For that purpose the self-field effects are neglected, and the method of Lyapounov and Schmidt is used to minimize the functional of energy. The possible equilibrium is determined and the parameters (from the magnetic field) having best control of the interface stability are pointed out.
