Abstract
Superconducting shields provide a means of obtaining reduced magnetic fields for use to introduce charged particles into or out of magnetic fields. The feasibility of using V3 Ga tape is described illustrating shielding properties of a small test tube. The transverse field shielded is 10 kG with the tube of overall thickness of 10 mm, as is designed shielding performance. The flux penetration at the tube center is essentially negligible.
