Abstract
A vector potential A and an electrical scalar potential φ are taken to describe the three dimensional eddy current problem. A finite element equation system is set up for a non magnetic region using the Galerkin method. The scalar potential φ is eliminated from the equation system in order to reduce the number of unknowns per node. Time dependent solutions for potentials and eddy currents can be obtained using a step by step procedure.
