Abstract
In this paper the authors analyze the eddy current losses in the armature winding of a two-pole and a four-pole turbine generators, making use of the vector potential algorithm. The ratio Rac /Rdc has been evaluated for several configurations and the results show that the armature morphology can significantly affect its value. Such losses are due to eddy currents induced by E.M.F. dissymmetries present in large windings. This phenomenon causes an increase in the Rac /Rdc up to values greater than 100.
