Abstract
A three-dimensional finite-element method is used for calculating the distributions of both temperature field and magnetostatic field in a lifting magnet. This 2-D nonlinear magnetostatic field problem can be defined by the curl-curl equation, and the 3-D temperature field is governed by the Poisson equation. A stereoscopic diagram of the field distribution is given
