Abstract
The longitudinal and transverse component of the induced eddy currents due to a magnet moving above a aluminium strip conductor, have been measured for the magnet centrally positioned over the strip and the magnet displaced towards the edge of the strip. Constant current contours are plotted for the two cases at different velocities. The results obtained indicate that with the magnet displaced towards the edge of the aluminium track the eddy current distribution as a function of velocity is no longer compatible with the semi infinite sheet pattern.
