Abstract
The application of the well-known fast frequency hopping (FFH) scheme to the WIMEDIA OFDM-based UWB standard is presented. A promising packed error ratio performance was found. The proposed novel WIMEDIA FFH/OFDM scheme outperforms the regular scheme by up to 5 dB, and in combination with an ultra-sparse-(U-S)-LDPC code, up to 7 dB. Even uncoded transmission is conceivable, paving the way towards low complex ultra-high data rate systems
