  • Abstract
    Adaptive mesh refinement for finite-element solution of two-dimensional magnetic fields is treated. Attention is given to problems with saturable ferromagnetic regions, high and abrupt variations of the magnetic permeability, and current density distributions. A combination of Delaunay triangulation and optimization of nodal coordinates is used for adaptive refinement. Error estimation is based on the difference between quadratic and linear interpolation polynomials. Examples of adaptive mesh generation and convergence of the method in problems of electrical machinery are presented
