  • Abstract
    The measurement of the cutoff wavelength in single mode fibres is strongly affected by ´humps´. The Letter shows that the humps can be eliminated totally by replacing the higher-index primary coating by an oil, whose refractive index is matched exactly by controlling its temperature.
