Design, Manufacturing and Necessary Testing Carried out of Polymeric Surge Arrester Casing in Distribution System

Recently the usage of polymeric surge arresters has been increased and they are very common now. Increasing trend of using the devices, lead to run several researches and this in turn causes to take an action in manufacturing the surge arresters. The present article contains a conducted research on the structure of the polymeric surge arrester in distribution lines at NRI. The design principles of every component of the device, have been discussed in the paper. These components are surge arrester core, terminals, strength member, pressure relief, pro-load member, polymeric housing. Also after manufacturing the casing at NRI, the mechanical tests are carried out on it and the results are comparable with the well known surge arresters, in the world.
