تاريخ‌نگاري و مطالعه روند رشد علم و فناوري به روشني بيانگر اين واقعيت است كه توسعه پژوهش همواره در سايۀ تجربيات تلخ بشر در بحران‌هاي بزرگ شكل گرفته‌اند و بحران‌ها به عنوان عواملي تهديدكننده با تمام آسيب‌ها و تلخي‌هايشان، خواسته يا ناخواسته همواره از مهم‌ترين عوامل دگرگون‌سازي، رشد و توسعه مسيرهاي علم و فناوري به شمار رفته‌اند. نمونۀ بارز اين تأثيرگذاري را مي‌توان در رشد و توسعۀ بي‌بديل علم و فناوري پس از جنگ‌هاي جهاني اول و دوم و جنگ سرد جستجو كرد كه تغيير مسير چشم‌انداز كشورها را از علم كوچك به علم بزرگ بدنبال داشته و پژوهش را در مسيرهاي اولويت‌دارتر و هدفمندتر قرار داده است. با سرمايه‌گذاري‌هاي عديدۀ ناشي از تحولات جنگ‌هاي جهاني و سرد، رشد و توسعه علم و فناوري به طرز شگفت‌آوري افزايش يافته و دستاوردهاي علمي و فناورانۀ دهه‌هاي اخير را به بيش از چند برابر تمامي دستاوردهاي علمي و فناورانۀ طول حيات بشر رسانيده است. با وجود بحران‌هاي پيشين، بحران نوظهوري كه در ماه‌هاي اخير شكل گرفته و به شكل يك ويروس ناشناخته جامعه جهاني را تهديد مي‌كند، باعث شده تا تمامي روال‌هاي روزمره و برنامه‌هاي آينده اقتصادي، اجتماعي، فرهنگي و علمي در سطح ملي و بين‌المللي تحت تأثير قرار گيرد. واقعيت‌هاي ناشي از بحران همه‌گير كرونا كه كشورها از آن به نام «دشمن مشترك» ياد مي‌كنند، نشان از اين واقعيت دارد كه با وجود همۀ پيشرفت‌هاي حاصل شده، بشر هنوز در بسياري از زمينه‌هاي علمي نوظهور، راه طولاني در پيش دارد. بحران كرونا در همين دوران كوتاه ظهور خود، ضمن تأثيرگذاري مستقيم بر افكار و انديشه‌هاي انساني، توانسته قدرت خود را براي ايجاد تحولاتي نوين در عرصه‌هاي علم، فناوري، اقتصاد، سياست، فرهنگ و ساير جوانب زندگي بشري به رخ بكشاند، انديشمندان را به تفكري دوباره وادارد و در سال‌هاي آغازين هزاره سوم، ارائۀ بازتعريفي دگرگون‌كننده از ساختارهاي فعلي جوامع را ضروري بنماياند. از رويكرد پژوهشي، اين بحران نشان داد كه حوزۀ سلامت پيش‌نياز ساير بخش‌هاست و بيش از پيش مستلزم توجه، سرمايه‌گذاري و پشتيباني است. بنابراين بديهي است كه در چنين شرايطي، حائز اهميت‌ترين، اولويت‌دارترين و مسئله‌محورترين موضوعي كه ياري طيف وسيعي از پژوهشگران حوزه‌هاي مختلف را مي‌طلبد، حوزۀ پژوهشي كروناست. از رويكرد دسترسي به منابع اطلاعاتي علمي نيز اين بحران نشان داد كه هرگاه مسئله سلامت انسان در ميان باشد، ديگر مبحث محدود كردن دسترسي به اطلاعات علمي معناي واقعي خود را از دست مي‌دهد؛ زيرا براي مقابله با اين بحران، دسترسي به اطلاعات ارزشمند براي پژوهش به مثابه خوني است كه در رگهاي پژوهش جريان دارد و مي‌تواند آن را به سرمنزل مقصود برساند. از همين روست كه در اين روزها ناشران و پايگاه‌هاي اطلاعاتي معتبر بين‌المللي بدون در نظر گرفتن هيچ خط و مرزي، درب‌هاي خود را براي دسترسي به منابع علمي ارزشمند حوزه‌هاي مرتبط با كرونا به روي پژوهشگران بين‌المللي گشوده‌اند. در ادامۀ اين روند و در حالي كه اكثر دانشگاه‌هاي دنيا براي نخستين بار در دوران حيات خود، تعطيلات پيش‌بيني نشدۀ ايام قرنطينه را تجربه مي‌كنند، چرخ‌هاي پژوهش از حركت بازنايستاده و حتي در مواردي دامنۀ پژوهش‌ به‌صورت مجازي و از راه دور، گسترش نيز يافته ‌است. در چنين شرايطي، دانشمندان و پژوهشگران با بهره‌گيري از فرصتي كه براي دسترسي آزاد به منابع علمي مرتبط با حوزه كرونا به‌وجود آمده و با تكيه بر دانش و تجربيات خود، كار پژوهش را به‌صورت مجازي و از راه دور به پيش مي‌برند و بيش از هر زمان ديگر، چرخ‌هاي پژوهش را به حركت درمي‌آورند. در اين شرايط خطير كه تمامي حوزه‌هاي مرتبط، از علوم زيستي و ويروس‌شناسي گرفته تا حوزه‌هاي باليني، تحقيقات پزشكي، داروسازي و مانند آن دوش به دوش يكديگر براي مقابله با اين بحران گام برمي‌دارند، بي‌ترديد عرصه‌هاي پژوهش و فناوري ملي و بين‌المللي شاهد ظهور حوزه‌هاي بين‌رشته‌اي و همچنين جبهه‌هاي پژوهشي جديدي است كه مي‌تواند مسير تحولات آيندۀ علم و فناوري را رقم بزند. بي‌ترديد شناسايي و رصد اين مسيرهاي تحول و نقش دانشمندان، دانشگاه‌ها و كانال‌هاي علمي كشورهاي تأثيرگذار در توسعۀ اين حوزه‌هاي بين‌رشته‌اي و جبهه‌هاي پژوهشي نوظهور، در تعيين مسيرهاي حركت آيندۀ علم و فناوري تعيين‌كننده خواهد بود. در چنين شرايطي و به‌ويژه در ايامي كه پژوهش‌ به‌صورت مجازي و از راه دور جريان دارد، نقش پژوهش‌هاي مجازي علم‌سنجي در تبيين اين مسيرها، جريان‌ها و تحولات علمي، بسيار خطيرتر، حائز اهميت‌تر و تعيين‌كننده‌تر از گذشته است. از مهم‌ترين زمينه‌هاي پژوهشي كه مطالعۀ آن به‌صورت دوركاري و مجازي و همزمان با ايام قرنطينه ، مشاركت و عزم جدي متخصصان علم‌سنجي را مي‌طلبد مي‌توان در زمينه‌هايي همچون تبيين روندهاي بين‌المللي شكل‌گيري پژوهش در حوزۀ كرونا، شناخت جبهه‌هاي پژوهشي نوظهور و زيرشاخه‌هاي آن، كشف حوزه‌هاي بين‌رشته‌اي حاصل از مشاركت‌هاي علمي نوظهور، و شناسايي مرتبط‌ترين و تأثيرگذارترين پژوهشگران و پژوهش‌هاي مرتبط با حوزۀ پژوهشي كرونا اشاره كرد. شايد بي‌راه نباشد به همان ترتيبي ‌كه گلنزل[1] در سال 2010 از پژوهش‌هاي راه دور كتاب‌سنجي به نام «كتاب‌سنجي روميزي»[2] ياد كرد، در اينجا نيز اين دسته از پژوهش‌هاي هدفمند و بي‌وقفۀ علم‌سنجي كه در ايام قرنطينه، به معناي واقعي كلمه به‌صورت مجازي و دوركاري به سرانجام مي‌رسند، در نشريات الكترونيكي منتشر مي‌شوند و به اين ترتيب در اختيار علاقه‌مندان و پژوهشگران مجازي قرار مي‌گيرند را «علم‌سنجي مجازي[3]» نام‌گذاري كرد.

Historiography and the study of the science growth process and technology clearly express this fact that the development of research has always been shaped by bitter human experiences in major crises, and crises as threatening factors with all their harms and bitterness, willingly or unwillingly, are always the most important factors for the transformation and development of science and technology paths. A clear example of this impact can be found in the unique growth and development of science and technology after the First and Second World Wars and the Cold War, which led to a dramatic shift in the country's view from small science to major science and has put research on a more priority and targeted path. With the massive investments made by the developments of the World Wars and the Cold War, the growth and development of science and technology have been increased dramatically, bringing the scientific and technological achievements of recent decades to more than all the scientific and technological achievements in human life. Despite previous crises, the emerging crisis, which has erupted in recent months and poses an unknown virus to the international community, has affected all daily routines and future economic, social, cultural, and scientific programs at the national and international levels. The realities of the Corona epidemic, which countries refer to as the "common enemy," show that, despite all the progress that has been made, mankind still has a long way in many emerging fields of science. The Corona Crisis has led thinkers to reconsider and, in the early years of the third millennium, make it necessary to provide a transformative redefinition of the current structures of societies. From a research point of view, this crisis has shown that the health sector is a priority for other sectors and requires more attention, investment, and support. It is clear, therefore, that in such a situation, the most important, the most priority, and the most central issue that requires the help of a wide range of researchers in various fields is the field of Corona's research. From the approach of access to scientific information sources, this crisis showed that whenever the issue of human health is involved, the issue of restricting access to scientific information loses its real meaning, because to deal with this crisis, access to valuable information for research is like the blood that flows in the veins of research and can bring it to its destination. That's why these days, reputable international publishers and databases have opened their doors to international researchers to access valuable scientific resources in areas related to Corona, regardless of any boundaries. As this trend continues, and while most universities around the world are experiencing unforeseen quarantine holidays for the first time in their lives, research cycles have not stopped moving, and even in some cases the scope of research has expanded virtually and remotely. In such a situation, scientists and researchers take advantage of the opportunity to freely access scientific resources related to the Corona field and rely on their knowledge and experience to carry out research work virtually and remotely and more than ever before to move ahead research cycles. In this dangerous situation, where all related fields, from biological sciences and virology to clinical fields, medical research, pharmacy, and the like, work side by side to counter this crisis, the fields of national and international research and technology are undoubtedly witnessing the emergence of interdisciplinary fields. It is also a new front of research that can clear the way for future developments in science and technology. Undoubtedly, identifying and observing these evolutionary paths and the role of scientists, universities, and scientific channels of influential countries in the development of these interdisciplinary fields and emerging research fronts will be decisive in determining the future paths of science and technology. In such circumstances, and especially in the days when research is conducted virtually and remotely, the role of virtual scientometrics research in explaining these scientific paths, trends, and developments is much more serious, important, and decisive than it was in the past. From the most important fields of research, the study of which, in the form of telecommuting and virtualization, and at the same time as quarantine, require the serious participation and determination of scientometrics experts; such as determining the international trends in the formation of research in the Corona area, recognition of emerging research fronts and its sub-branches, discovering the interdisciplinary areas of emerging scientific participation, and identifying the most relevant and influential researchers and research related to the Corona research area. Determining the international trends in the formation of research in the Corona area, recognition of emerging research fronts and their subfields, discovering the interdisciplinary areas of emerging scientific participation, and identifying the most relevant and influential researchers and research related to the Corona research area are the fields which can be mentioned from the most important fields of research, the study of which, in the form of telecommuting and virtualization, and at the same time as quarantine, require the serious participation and determination of scientometrics experts. Perhaps it is not irrelevant as the same way that Glänzel called the remote Scientometrics research as "Laptop bibliometrics " in 2010, today this purposeful and uninterrupted research of scientometrics, being carried out in quarantine days and literally means virtualization and telecommuting and are published in e-journals and available to virtual enthusiasts and researchers, is called "Virtual scientometrics" too.
