An Analytical Comparison of Industrial Development of Different Iran Provinces

In line with the national goals and in particular the goals of the third development plan, harmonizing the national objectives with regional facts is inventible. On this basis, resource allocations must be according to the abilities and relative advantages of the regions. By selecting industrial sector as the pivot of development in the third plan documentations, inditing regional development plan, based upon potential and actual capacities, is inevitable. However, since economic activities in particular and resources and means of supplying in general are not distributed spaciously with a desirable degree of concentration, each region requires its own special planning according to its particularities. To fulfil this requirement, it is essential to know the history and present situation of various regions by using the appropriate scientific methods. The present paper has exploited the data of provincial industrial development of the country in N94 and 1997. The level of industrial development is defined with the aid of either two combined method of factor analysis and numeric taxonomy, or the factor analysis method alone. The findings advocate the fact that distinctive differences between different provinces of the country exist.
