Maps and atlases in the National Library of Iran

Maps and atlases are among the non-book resources that along with other library materials can play their role in education and guidance. Also they can be counted as important and useful resources for research works. Regarding the role of the National Library in policy making for other libraries it is necessary to study the present situation of these materials in the library. In this article definition and story of maps and atlases are discussed first, then the quality of receiving these materials, situation of collection building, services, space and equipments allocated for housing these materials in the National Library are studies.
