Information science education in Iran: past, present, future

This article along with a brief survey on background of library and information sciences education and describing its present situation, tries to reconstruct the model of professional librarian. This model which will be resulted with the assistance of realism, consideration of examples and research conclusions, and scientific observations, will be applicable and effective. At the end it is concluded that educational cun-iculums should be able to train students who are able to produce scientific information, and present and disseminate it, and use sciences produced by others properly and produce new information.
