A 6 years study on anaesthesiologistʹs medical malpractice cases referred to Tehran medicolegal commission (1994-1999)

Despite of struggle of physician and other health workers and progression in technology of treatment, the rate of patient complaints and dissatisfaction is increasing. This is not only due to expansion in medical malpractice but also originate from unsuccessful connection or relation between physician and patients. The later has been the most cause of accusation (to bring an action against physician) in recent years. From begining the 1994 until the end of 1999 in Tehran Medicolegal commission 1266 cases related to medical negligence assessed. In 127 cases (10%) anaesthetic group was engaged. In 95 cases the negligance was confirmed, 84 cases were due to anaesthesiologist ʹs faults, 43 cases treating physician and 26 cases hospital manager were proved to be neglicted.
