The Relationship between the Mortality Rates and Socio-economic Development in the Iranian Provinces in 1375

In this research, it has been tried to study the relationship between the mortality rates and the degrees of socio-economic development in the Iranian provinces. It is based on the assumption that the more developed the provinces are, the lower mortality rates they have. There are two different viewpoints concerning the relationship between the degrees of socio-economic development in the mortality rates and third-world countries. Some demographers believe that the reduction in the mortality rates in developing countries, after the World War II, was independent of socio-economic development. Jr was solely due to their contacts with the industrially developed countries from which they had acquired medical and desease control techniques. On the other hand, some demographers consider lower mortality rates as a result of socio-economic development. They also maintain that with the existence of the improper hygienic conditions and equal distribution of socio-economic resources, one will constantly face the discrepancies in mortality rate reduction and life expectancy enhancement at birth. The research findings help us clarify the viewpoints introduced to deline the mortality rate reduction in developing countries after the World War II. They clearly verifies those of the latter group as well. One may conclude that there is a direct significant relationship between life expectancy at birth as a mortality index and the socio-economic development in the Iranian provinces.
