An Analysis of Qurʹan- and Hadith-Oriented Approaches

This article deals with two hypotheses concerning Nezami Ganjaviʹs (1140?-1217? A.D.) verse. Since Nezami drew extensively on the Qurʹan and the Hadiths, the writer identifies two distinct structures in the poetʹs exploitation of these two sources and, thus, concludes that they must have generally invaded and informed Nezamiʹs whole notion of stylistics. The article also traces the strange and novel juxtapositions of words used in the Qurʹan and the Hadiths in Nezamiʹs verse to illustrate the origins of the poetʹs contribution to making novel compound Persian expressions. It further argues that the compounds, including modifiers and the modified, which statistically abound in Nezamiʹs verse, are his borrowings from the Qurʹan and the Hadiths.
