Guy de Maupassant and his art of storytelling

Guy de Maupassant began writing stories at a time when the schools of realism and naturalism were in their heydays. Although he took inspirations from the masters of these schools, especially Gustave Flaubert and Emile Zola, he developed his own style in wiring stories. The purpose of this article is to describe Maupassantʹs art of writing and the way he depicts his characters. The article also touches upon his attitude toward the society of his time.
