بررسي اپيدميولوژيك 2000 مورد جراحي قلب در بيمارستان افشار يزد

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF 2000 CARDIAC SURGERIES IN AFSHAR HOSPITAL, YAZD

Despite improved clinical care, heightened public awareness and widespread use of health innovation, heart diseases, especially coronary artery disease (CAD) remain the leading cause of death in the world. The goal of surgery is to improve the quality of life and prolong it. In this cross sectional study over a period of 33 months, 2000 procedures have been performed at the cardiovascular surgery center of Afshar hospital, Yazd. 76.20% of the patients had CABC, 11.40% congenital surgery, 10.60% valve surgery and 1.75% others. 66.30% were men and 31.70% women. 4.40% of patients were in the 60-70 years age group. Hospital mortality was 1.80% while morbidity was 4.40%. Prevention remains the key strategy for reducing heart disease and mortality.
