Examining the Causality Relationship between Energy Consumption and Domestic Production in Iranʹs Economy

Economic growth and development are considered as two major goals of Iranʹs policy-makers. Therefore, it is particularly important to examine their main factors including energy, which is one of the production factors. This paper tries to examine the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth on the basis of empirical data related to the period within 1981-2001. The results of this survey show that any variation in energy consumption could affect economic growth either in short-run or long-run periods in a way that any limitation in its consumption could lead to decrease in economic growth.
