Study of the Effect of Tocolytic on Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM) for Six Months

This study was carried out in Ghaʹem Hospital in Mashad , Iran for six months in 2000 . From among 150 women referring to the Obstetrics Department , 70 cases had tocolytic contraindications . However , 80 other cases with no such contraindications were divided into 2 groups : the first group received magnesium sulfate and the second group had expectant management . The collected data were put into statistical a:malysis usiug x2 analysis and multivariable logistic regression . 46.3% were primiparous . The mean age was 24.3 + 5 . Magnesium sulfate was observed to be successful in the suppression of preterm labor in PPROM . However , it was not effective for the method of delivery . No significant relationship was found between gestational age and results of tocolytic management ; infusion of MgSO4 had no effects on the outcome of the newborn of mothers . It was finally concluded that tocolytic management was successful in the suppression of preterm labor in PPROM with no morbidity of mothers and the fetus .
