A Semiotic Perception of War : The Case of Imposed War

The Present article studies the outbreak of Iran-Iraq war from a denotational socialogy (Semiotics) perspective. In doing so, the first section of the article provides a theoritical framwork and the second section is trying to analyze and define the legal reasons for Iran-Iraq war as well as understanding the causes of Iraq defeat in confrontation of popular and volunteer threes, through the findings of such perception. The phenomenon of war is not a pure concrete one which is independent of human annotation. Every human being has a definition of the war and with the phenomenon of war depends on how meaning is changed in to power for individuals and how it is turned in to strategy of combatants. The strategy of combatants can be multi-facet; weather it can stregnthen the commanders strategy such as popular resistance of inhabitants in occupied areas and the resistance of strategy or it can operate against the commanders strategy such as what caused active in realization of his military objectives.
