With the beginning of Moslem reign in Bengal province from the beginning of 13t Century A.D. , equal to 7th Century H.Q., Islamic system of thought and education prevailed over, and Farsi and Arabic came into vogue. Farsi became the formal language, however, Arabic remained the language of religion.
Qhazi Rokneddin-e Hanafi Bokharaʹi who translated the book "Amrikund" from Sanskrit into Arabic and Farsi, was the first scholar with mastery over the Arabic language.
Hundreds of books were written in Farsi and Arabic and thousands of schools were established. Generally speaking, prevalence of Farsi and the teaching of Arabic through Farsi and Islamic religion transferred the culture of Bengal from the ancient to the modern times.
