Panonychus citri (McGregor) is a serious mite pest of Citrus spp. (mainly oranges) in Caspian coastal region in northern part of Iran. For protecting damages of this mite through acaricide treatments, only few acaricides have been evaluated and registered upto present study. Lack of alternative miticides with different properities, will cause further possibilities of citurs mite pest resistance of citrus to them. In this concern, fenpyroximate 5% EC with recommended dose and half of that along with Propargite 57% EC were selected to compare their effectiveness on active stages of P. citri in Dasht e Naz of Sari region (Mazandaran province) in 1999. The field trials were conducted according to randomized complete block designed with four replications with each replicate consisting of 12 trees. Mean of 10 or more active mite stages recorded on upper surface of the leaf was considered for time of acaricides application. 10-12 liters of acaricide+water were applied to each orange tree of the same age and canopy. For each treatment 50 citrus leaves were sampled at interval period one day before and 1, 3, 7, 14 and 25 days after acaricide application. No alive mite was counted by help of dissecting stereo microscope. Mean collected data of active mite stages converted into mortality% through Abbotts formula. Analysis of variance done on mean mortality % of those treatments at different interval period and grouped and compared them according Duncan Multiple Rang Test method. Results obtained indicated that, there wan no statistical differences at level of 5 percent (P > 0.05) between treatments and sampling interval for mite pest control and all placed in one group (A) according DMRT with proper effective control. Fenpyroximate with standard dose was able to control mite pest up to 25 days even under mite outbreak condition. Application of this acaricide at beginning of mite infestation can reduce number and amount of acaricide replications, cost of control and protecting under ground drinking water in Caspian costal region and natural environment from further pollution by pesticides application.
